Contract Computer Services

Contract Computer Services

This was the first company of the Group, founded in 1972.

It was one of the first 5 Computer Companies founded in Australia. It specialised in payroll and manufacturing systems for the Electricity Commission of NSW and various manufacturing companies as Roden industries, McNeil Air, British Tyre and Rubber. The company developed software on Honeywell and IBM mainframes

CCS developed retail systems for Flints Shoes, Solomon Carpets linked to NCR cash registers.

Later, Digital Equipment Corporation, Wang and IBM developed the Mini a smaller range of computers than the mainframes. CCS was a value-added reseller of these systems.

As a value-added reseller of IBM system 3, CCS purchased the minicomputers developed software and sold it in a turnkey operation to various customers. The average sale amounted to several million dollars.

CCS developed warranty systems for Bond Motor (Hyundai) and supplied machines to the dealer network.

CCS developed just in lime schedules using a relational database (similar to Oracle) to schedule deliveries of parts for companies such as Matson automotive to supply Mitsubishi Motors. Other companies using this software included Gem Engines. CCS also developed clothing manufacturing systems for CMT (cut make and trim).

As manufacturing declined during the 1980's the director G Lowe contracted to Andersen Consulting (later Accenture) as a consultant.

Geoff completed assignments for Dept of Family and Community Services restructuring services for Juvenile Justice and Developmental Disability Services.

Another major assignment was with Optus. He was instrumental in developing the algorithms for interconnect billing of telecommunication services as both a SME (subject Matter Expert) and later as the project Manager developing the system for tracking interconnect charges for settlement between carriers such as Telstra, and Vodafone using call detail records (CDR),

Later he was appointed programmer manager for Mobile Number Portability.

The accumulated profits and R&D accelerated depreciation incentives of the ?O's and 80's allowed CCS to purchase a newly built Bunnings Store at Lawnton Brisbane in September 2019.

The Bunning like most of the medical leases is a triple net lease where Bunnings pay the land tax,

Statutory fees as council rates and water rates. It is a net lease.

In addition, the depreciation on the first few years amounts to 47%. When combined with the carried for tax credits in CCS we expect almost no tax will be paid on rent of $903,000 from Bunnings for the first few years.
